Updated App Icon: What You Need to Know
We recently updated the FightWatchr app icon to the new melting fist logo. If you use FightWatchr through a web browser, you do not need to do anything. The new icon shows up automatically on your next visit.
If you installed FightWatchr as an app on your phone or desktop, the update process depends on your device.
Android (Chrome)
Chrome checks for app updates roughly once a day when you open FightWatchr. It will detect the new icon and swap it in on its own. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. You do not need to do anything.
Desktop (Chrome / Edge)
Same behavior as Android. Your browser will pick up the new icon within a few days of your next visit. No action needed.
iOS (Safari)
This is the one case where you need to take a manual step. iOS takes a snapshot of the app icon when you first add it to your home screen. It does not check for updates after that. There is no way for us to push a new icon to your device.
To get the new icon on iOS:
- Long-press the FightWatchr icon on your home screen
- Tap "Remove App" or "Delete Bookmark"
- Open Safari and go to fightwatchr.com
- Tap the Share button and select "Add to Home Screen"
That is it. The new icon will appear and everything else stays the same. Your account, predictions, and settings are all stored on our servers, so nothing is lost.
Why the change?
The old icon was a placeholder we used during early development. The new melting fist logo better represents FightWatchr and looks sharper on home screens and in notifications.
Push notifications will also use the new icon going forward. If you have any questions, reach out through the contact page.
